How can we engage individuals to physically participate in a collaborative creative action?

IDENTITY SYSTEM, MOTION GRAPHICS

DESIGNED BY TAYLOR BIRD

ART DIRECTION FROM ERIC HEIMAN

Swap is an imagined skillshare series to facilitate creative engagement and personal interaction in physical spaces.

Reimagining the "shared economy" through a critical, human-centered lens meant comparing rhetoric to real experience.

The research began with an analysis of the principles that define the "sharing economy" aka "collaborative consumption" aka the "access economy." I compared these to spaces that are self-initiated without financial incentive.

Collected first person observations, iterative questioning, and site visits pointed to opportunities to bridge the best of these worlds.

Research was presented in a Pecha Kucha style format.

DESIGN

Monthly events are proposed online through an open call system and voted on by participants.

3 DAYS TO EVENT

Chalk lines are drawn, with impromptu invitations for nearby folks to join in the process.

The lines act as temporary wayfinding, marking the event at the center.

DAY OF EVENT

Participants make personalized take-aways with unique graphics for that month's event via popup photobooth.
